Why not make the USA Senate 50/50 Female/Male?

Wouldn’t you like to be represented? Would that change the chemistry of our behavior? Would it help children, people in poverty, and our environment?

I’ve been noticing that it’s funny when you ask questions backwards.

When I would ask you, “Shouldn’t there be a balance of 50/50 males:females in the Senate,” would you be taken aback?

What if I then asked you, “There’s 100% women in the Senate. Males are not represented.” Would that make you angry and sad?

Then put yourself in the shoes of women.

That’s how we should all feel. Sad. Angry. Ready for change.

I recommend a new Constitutional Amendment of 50/50 Female/Male for the Senate.

As I wrote in previous articles, it was only 1964 with the Civil Rights Act when segregation between blacks and whites ended.

It was in 1869 that black men were given the right to vote with the 15th Amendment.

It was in 1919 that women were given the right to vote with the 19th amendment. Wow. Just 100 years ago.

Women started working just in 1940s due to World War II.

Title IX in 1972 guaranteed the right to education free from sex discrimination.

Women are now educated and working.

Isn’t it time for there to be equal representation of women and men in the Senate? Each state would elect one woman and one man.

This may help with poverty, the environment, children, nutritional assistance, etc. Women care about people more than men do, according to scientific research. Is that why our country is in desperate poverty, homelessness, and despair?

“Research indicates that, on average, women tend to show stronger interests in people-oriented fields and activities, while men tend to show stronger interests in things-oriented fields and activities.” — Google AI

Men could focus on green technology, and women could help with children’s nutrition in school, just as an example.

Why are we not caring about the extreme poverty and homelessness rates in America? Is it because there’s primarily just men in the Senate?

Would a balance of 50/50 help our country lift those in poverty to new heights of opportunity?

“Of the 13 percent of Americans (43 million people) living in poverty in 2023, 34 percent of those people (15 million) lived in deep poverty. Meanwhile, 15 percent of Americans (49 million) lived just above the poverty line at 100 percent to 149 percent of the poverty threshold.” — Peter G Peterson Foundation

“Homelessness in the U.S. increased by 18% between 2023 and 2024, reaching a record high of over 771,000 people on a single night in January 2024, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This marks a continuation of a multi-year upward trend, with homelessness also rising by 12% in the prior year (2022 to 2023).” — Google AI

The environment is also in disaster. We are literally in an environmental emergency

Would women care about animals, plants, and our survival as a species more than men do?

As you can see, CO2 continues to increase (that means less oxygen for us to breathe to survive); Where is leadership in the Senate, in the UN?

https://research.noaa.gov/no-sign-of-greenhouse-gases-increases-slowing-in-2023/

Why did God create man and woman? Because we’re complementary. That’s how it should be in the Senate. It may be extremely helpful to those who are in need, especially children and the survival of animals, plants, and our species.

It also may help with the language of politics. It is quite extreme. I have been involved in the political scene since the age of 14. The language and fights and verbiage are getting very child-unfriendly. They are keeping a lot of Good People away from politics.

It’s like our country has turned into an Alpha Fraternity. Eww.

This may really help. The House of Representatives can change naturally as more and more women become confident that they are able to hold these positions. Change takes time. Or if you have another idea for changes in representation in the House, great!

City councils could do representation by ethnicity, perhaps? If a city is 30% black, at least 20% Asian (if they’re just 5% then maybe not?), 25% Latino/a, and 25% White, they may want them to be represented in a quota system.

Again, ask the question backwards. Would you like to be represented? Of course! Then put yourself in the shoes of somebody who is not represented. You would be angry! You would say, this is absurd! This is a democracy! I should be represented too!

A good place to start with more representation of all people in America would be an Amendment to the Constitution making it 50/50 female:male.

Please pass this suggestion along to anybody in the political system who may want to introduce this new amendment to our country or any country that wants more equality in representation.
